Why Wrestlers Around the World Should Experience the VK Wrestling Camp 🇬🇪
Wrestling Beyond Borders
Wrestling may be one of the oldest sports in the world, but the methods that shape champions continue to evolve. Across the globe, wrestlers and coaches are searching for new ways to sharpen their skills, understand techniques and think strategically on the mat.
That’s exactly what the VK International Wrestling Camp in Gori, Georgia offers a chance to learn directly from one of the most accomplished coaches in wrestling, Valentin Kalika, whose methods have guided Olympic champions, world medalists and professional MMA fighters to the absolute peaks of their respective sports.
The Vision Behind Valentin Kalika
Valentin Kalika’s journey in wrestling spans more than four decades, from the training halls of Ukraine to the Olympic stage. After earning his Master’s degree in Elite Coaching and Sports Education from the prestigious Ukrainian Sports University, he went on to become a USSR Master of Sports and later served as the national coach for both the USA and Israel.
Under his leadership at Titan Mercury Wrestling Club, Team USA claimed its first-ever World Cup victory in 2016. That same year, as head coach for the U.S. Women’s Olympic Wrestling Team, his athlete Helen Maroulis made history by winning the first-ever Olympic gold medal for an American woman in wrestling.

Today, Valentin continues to coach top-level athletes — from world champion Amit Elor to Aaron Pico, who now competes in the UFC. But perhaps more importantly, he continues to share his coaching philosophy with wrestlers of all levels — a philosophy rooted in the Soviet system, focused on precision, adaptability and discipline. Valentin’s approach goes beyond physical preparation, focusing on helping athletes understand movement, timing and control so they can make smarter decisions in every position.
